The Future of PET is Bright

We were further inspired about our mission after reading the highlights from Smithers Pira’s latest research in their report, “The Future of PET Packaging to 2021,” that discusses and analyzes major industry trends and developments.

  • The global consumption of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging is forecast to reach 21.1 million tonnes by 2021
  • Driven mainly by increasing demand in emerging and transitional economies, the market will grow 3.8% annually during the period 2016–21
  • PET packaging will see strong growth due to increasing demand in end-use markets
There has been a continued transition away from glass and to a varying extent, metal cans, particularly for hot fill applications such as sauces and other preserved foods
